2nd Nigel Cox - 8:16/1:06:45/31:34 = 1:46:35
Report:
The field was small but the competition was fierce with nothing but bragging rights on the line.
With a fraction over 2mins seperating 2nd from 6th in such a small field there look to be some epic battles in the upcoming season. Bring it on!!!
Burnham Aquathlon - 15/04/07
3rd Iain Hindes - 13:47/41:58 = 55:45
8th Tim Reed - 16:57/41:57 = 58:54
Report:
A bit of an off day for the two club members that made the trip to Burnham with both Iain and Tim posting slower times than they have in the past.
Both of them were obviously far more concerned with the upcoming In-Club race where several massive ego's will be on the line.
Plympton 10k - 18/03/07
18th Alan Ward - 40:57
Bideford Half Marathon - 04/03/07
54th Jimmy Murray - 1:25:38
Taunton Aquathlon - 25/02/07
1st Iain Hindes - 14:25/37:13 = 51:38
Report:
A suprisingly low turnout of one NDTC member made the short trip to Taunton to compete in this 1000m/10k race. That one member ran through the field for the win to make up for his lacklustre performance last year when he lost his title by 3 seconds.
Hopefully this early season win will be the first of many for NDTC members this year.
Haldon Off Road Duathlon - 18/02/07
11th Tim Reed - 1:53:34
Report:
Despite suffering from the illness that's been sweeping Ilfracombe of late Tim managed to drag himself down to Exeter for this tough off road race.
Even though he lost all his nutrition and took a couple of tumbles on the bike he held on to finish well up the field in 11th place overall and 3rd in his category
Torrington Torment - 11/02/07
4th Iain Hindes - 1:30:40
16th Lee Sheperd - 1:38:59
Report:
Torrington AAC's beast of a half marathon is always a cracker. 13.1miles of climbing and descending with little or no flat running really tests the legs.
Only two of the Tri Club were brave enough to try it this year with Iain once again missing the 90min barrier he'd set as a target and Lee comfortably cracking his 100min target.
More there next year please, you know you want to :)
Braunton 10 - 28/01/07
3rd Jon Parkinson - 59:55
9th Tim Reed - 1:03:12
11th Iain hindes - 1:03:44
31st Lee Shepherd - 1:07:53
93rd Dick Congdon - 1:18:28
104th Martin Harrison - 1:20:35
159th Dave Lang - 1:31:51
172nd Nigel Cox - 1:33:42
Report:
Once again JP took top club honours on what turned out to be a rather pleasant morning in North Devon. I'm not sure how long we can keep claiming him for though as his Torbay running club now has a Tri section. There was a fair old scrap going on between 9th and 14th until Tim put the hammer down in the last 3miles and broke the pack up. A late surge from Iain was too little to late as he struggled to make up for his inability to run up the hills. A cracking run by Lee who's Marathon training looks to be paying off. Martin has a new target now with Dick only 2mins ahead while Dave must be looking over his shoulder at an improving Nigel.

98th Steve Hill - 1:22:33
134th Dave Lang - 1:29:35
164th Jan Rolfe - 1:37:17
Report:
Once again the majority of people turned up to the Caper with a big hangover. JP however (who had been out for a beer or two the previous night) decided that after years of messing around he was finally going to take the race seriously. Proudly wearing the colours of his 'new' running club he cantered away with the race winning by almost a minute. Many of us suffered far more than Jon however in the one race of the year where times matter very little and crossing the finish line without seeing the return of the previous nights excess's matters more.

A cracking day all round for the NDTC Aquathlon. The weather held off 'mostly'. Reports from competitors has been great. The Dave/Pam/Shell combination worked brilliantly together. Tim's kid took some cracking snaps 'and we all got a kicking by a girl!!'. Well done all that marshalled, all that raced and all that combined the two. Cracking stuff....

Report:
The morning of Bodmin (the final race of the Triathlon season) was WET!!! and the downpours showed no sign of letting up. As the start time approached though the rain eased and the race was actually run in pretty damn good conditions. Despite missing a turn on the bike and then very nearly overshooting a road junction Iain managed to stay in one piece long enough to claim 2nd place while Lee and Richard duked it out for that final top 10 spot with Lee finally snatching it on the run.

Hagley's a great (and very tough) race based in the Clent Hills. It starts with a 4k off road run to warm you up and get you 'slightly' muddy. Then it's time for the 30k bike ride which has more than it's fair share of technical and lumpy bits. Then you head out for another 8k of Clents finest before returning to the finish. The finish for Iain would have come a couple of minutes sooner and a couple of places higher if he hadn't continued his tradition of cramping up while he has one leg either side of a stile. Not an image you'd want your kids to see, you wouldn't want them to hear the language when it happens either.

It was a tough old day in South Molton for the NDTC boys. A couple of them (who shall remain nameless thought it'd be a good race to put in the middle of 'the rest of' the days training sessions. I know that at least one of them that went home wishing he hadn't bothered

Going from the serenity of the 400m pool swim to the hurricane conditions that met you when you set out of the 15mile bike was an interesting experience in Wadebridge. On the day outright spped was forgotten as you battled in vain to try to keep your bike going in a straight line. A freaky hailstorm gave the folks in the last two waves a bit more excitement. The 5mile run brought welcome relief as you headed out along the flat and sheltered Camel Trail with only the beasty little climb to the Leisure Centre finish to worry you.
