Training

We run a number of training sessions every week but our main point of contact with each other are the twice weekly swim sessions at North Devon Leisure Centre. If you are thinking of joining us for training, please see our Clubspark system for booking. You can find it here.

Swimming

The main training session for the week centres around the squad swimming session from 9am until 10am on Sundays  or 8pm until 9pm on Wednesday eveings at Barnstaple Leisure Centre. The cost is between £7.50 and £10 for members. At the moment, due to CoVid restrictions we are not accepting bookings from non-members.

When you arrive at the pool, tell the reception you are with the Tri Club. You MUST pre-book sessions through our ClubSpark system at least 48 hours before the session. Swim coaching is open to all abilities and we currently have all 6 lanes to the club, catering for a maximum of 36 swimmers per session. At different times of the year the focus changes from (for example) swim stroke improvement to speed and stamina work.

After swimming there are often opportunities to bike and run.

Chivenor Spin / Turbo sessions

Local Tri coach Gary Gerrard runs these sessions weekly on Wednesday evenings, 7:15-8:15pm. During the Autumn the sessions are spin bike based then in Spring we start to do brick sessions (combined spinning and running). The sessions work on building strength, endurance and cadence awareness and are based around heart rate zones. There are 9 bikes that can be booked out for monthly blocks, but you can also bring your own bike and turbo trainer if you prefer. FREE, WEEKLY, TIMED 5k’s in Rock Park Barnstaple, Victoria Park Bideford and Tamar Lakes.

Absolutely all abilities welcome to walk, jog, run, chat or volunteer. See other club members there and try for a PB. 9am every Saturday.

Running/ Open Water Swim Sessions

Lou Harris has been running some training sessions for us over the Summer. Her run training usually takes place after the Sunday swim. Open water sessions are tide dependent. Have a look at our Facebook page for details of upcoming sessions.
